New Attitude

A few new things.
1. We got a new drummer! Her name is Liz and she rules the school.
2. We got a new practice space. It's tiny but it's not a Satan-possessed sweatbox shared with a bunch of assholes.
3. We're in the process of recording a demo, which we hope to have out very, very, very soon. Expect bouncy hits and cute packaging.
4. We're planning on putting out a split seven inch with our new best friends Roach Beach. We'll begging y'all for money to help release it fairly soon.
5. We're starting to write new songs, many of which are about heartache and conflict and Great Lakes shipwrecks.
6. We're playing more shows in the fall, despite our busy schedules. Thanks to all the people who have come out to all our previous gigs and thanks to everyone who has been so enthusiastic about our little group!

Hardcore

Hang In There, Baby!

Blizzard Babies have been having a pretty rough week. We won't get into too many details, but we will say that as a result we have a wish list of some things that will make our dramatic life changes a little easier:
-size 7 ladies shoes
-a PA
-some nice guitar amps
-novelty records with goofy covers
-clothes stolen from the GAP
-mics and mic stands
We have lots more fancy news to post in the coming weeks.

we make our (teenage) dreams come true

My teenage dream is still a stylish, romantic, bohemian escape from the law (a la "Pierrot Le Fou"), but we'll leave that one be. Ask Meghann or Pam or Lucas what they're dream was and it would probably be to play a show at the Fireside Bowl. We'll be doing that on July 19. Show starts at 8:30pm SHARP. 17+ so it's almost like the olden days (but not quite) BRING MONEY

The unauthorized authorized autobiography of the Blizzard Babies

I'm pretty sure it all began with Meghann and Pam, who were working together memorizing produce codes. Inspired by riot grrrl, girl groups, the classic rock station at work and cute animals, they wanted to start a band. Taylor was their boss's girlfriend and used to kick it pretty hardcore as Octagon Island, a one-woman experimental toy keyboard/drum machine group that had played really hip basement shows in the past. One night they met to discuss regional beers, feminism and high school and ultimately decided to start a band. Their first practice was scheduled for the night of January 31st. That afternoon, a massive blizzard hit Chicago. When the girls were finally able to meet up the following week, they decided to name themselves Blizzard Babies, in honor of the historic storm.

Blizzard Babies are, to keep things simple, a rock and roll band. They (Pam strumming a ukelele, Meghann plucking the bass, Taylor shredding the guitar and boy drummer Lucas going nuts on drums) love to ROCK the fuck out, which is why seemingly simple songs about things like ancient Rome and how good beavers have it end up going on for around five minutes. What they hope to express through their music is fun and excitement. If you don't like having fun, then you probably won't like it. And if you don't like it, you're probably an asshole.
